Just a stone's throw from the ultra-hip Carlsberg City district - where the coffee is expensive and the apartments even more so - you'll find one of Copenhagen's most important little basement record shops, quietly championing the darkest corners of underground music.

Hidden away on Slesvigsgade in Vesterbro, one of the city's old working-class neighbourhoods, Mephisto is a true haven for obscure sounds. Whether you're into dungeon synth, vampiric black metal, or simply metal that dares to stray far from the beaten path, a visit to Ole at Mephisto is essential.

Since 2019, Ole has been running this carefully curated basement shop, stocking an incredible selection of niche records, T-shirts, tapes, VHS tapes, skulls and all manner of underground oddities. It's the kind of place where every shelf has a story.

Ole and Mephisto have also been long-time supporters of OTU from the very beginning, and you'll find a range of our releases in the shop. If you're looking for your next favourite record, Ole is always happy to point you towards something loud, strange, and unforgettable.

He's a true institution within the Danish metal underground and also runs his own label, Deadbangers Productions, releasing some of the finest extreme music around.
