VIOLENCE

Violence are a Copenhagen-based post-punk band formed from the ashes of hardcore outfit Woes. With deep roots in the European underground scene and more than 100 shows across Europe under their belt, the band have evolved from their raw punk beginnings into a modern take on late-’80s post-punk, blending melancholic moods with immersive, synth-driven soundscapes.

In 2022, Violence released their debut album, Area Sub Rosa (Last Mile Records), which was met with widespread critical acclaim, including a 5/6-star review from Danish music magazine Gaffa, who also highlighted it as one of the year’s strongest releases.

Their 2025 EP, Forgetting How to Cry (Summer Darling Tapes), saw the band move in a more experimental direction, incorporating elements of trance and contemporary electronic music while retaining their dark, nostalgic approach to post-punk.

Violence’s forthcoming EP, "Nostalgia is Depression", due for release in November 2026, pushes further into electronic territory while continuing to explore the outer edges of post-punk and goth. The release also marks a new era for the band with the addition of vocalist and keyboard player Alberte Lieberoth, whose presence brings a new intensity and emotional depth to their sound.
